Written Communication Placement

I have completed the GE A2 Written Communication course requirement by completing prior coursework or a qualifying exam (one of the options below).
 

Student has completed an approved and articulated college course with a grade of C- or better that satisfies GE CSU Area A2 (written communication).

Student has completed an Advanced Placement (AP) test with a score of 3 or higher in either of the categories below:

  • AP Language and Composition
  • AP Composition and Literature

I am ready to take a Written Communication (GE A2) course at CSULB and meet one or more of the conditions below:

Student has achieved one or more of the following:

  • Completed approved year-long English courses include CSU ERWC, AP, and Weighted Honors English
  • Weighted GPA 3.3 or above
  • Weighted GPA 3.0 or above and completion of a12th grade approved year-long English course with a grade of C- or better
  • Weighted GPA 3.0 or above and completion of Honors English course
  • Weighted GPA 3.0 or above and 5 or more years of high school English

Student has achieved a score matching one of the options below:

  • Standard Exceeded (Level 4)
  • Standard Met (Level 3) and completion of a 12th grade approved year-long English course with a grade of C- or better

Student has achieved a score matching one of the options below:

  • Score 550 or above
  • Score 510 – 540 and completion of a 12th grade approved year-long English course with a C- or better.

Student has achieved a score matching one of the options below:

  • 22 or above
  • 19-21 and completion of a 12th grade approved year-long English course with a C- or better
 
I am ready to take a Written Communication (GE A2) stretch course* at CSULB:

*Some students may be be advised to take the course sequence of ENG 100A and 100B to meet their English GE Requirements, otherwise known as stretch courses.

Student has achieved a weighted high school GPA 3.0 or above or has completed 4 or more years of English.

Student has achieved a score between 510 – 540 or has completed 4 or more years of high school English.

Student has achieved a score between 19-21 or has completed 4 or more years of high school English.
