Give Us Your Two Cents

Don’t throw away that empty pen or highlighter.  Earn two cents for university sustainability efforts by depositing that pen into a Terracycle Writing Instrument Brigade box and recycle it!

Terracycle Writing Instrument Brigade is a national environmental program offered through Office Max. The program specifically targets writing instrument recycling and supports objectives in the American College and Universities Climate Commitment signed by President Alexander in May 2011 and endorsed by the campus Sustainability Task Force.

Terracycle will donate 2 cents to our campus Terracycle Project for every writing instrument collected. Qualifying writing instruments include all pens, markers, highlighters, wood case and disposable mechanical pencils, dry erase markers and correction tape products from any brand and any manufacturer. Collection boxes provided by Terracycle will be placed in lobbies, College offices, the library, Horn Center, Student Recreation and Wellness Center and the USU. Your closest collection box location will soon be listed on the Purchasing and Financial Services homepage. For more information, contact Mary Ann Odell in Purchasing at 58574 or modell@csulb.edu.

Email and Voice Mail Migration

Since August, 67 percent of the campus has migrated to the new @csulb email and voice mail systems.  The last campus groups are scheduled for migration in April, followed by the migration of volunteers and emeriti and cleanup of the old email system in the summer.

If your campus unit or college has not yet moved to the new systems, you will soon receive emails with information about how to sign up for training, what you need to do for your migration, and how to get help.

If you have already migrated to the new systems, please review the online tutorials and self-help guides or contact your campus technical coordinator if you have questions.

Campus Construction Update

As we near completion of the installation of the new sports lighting at George Allen Field, the contractor needs to perform the final power crossover and renovation work required to feed the new lighting and equipment. This work is scheduled to take place on Friday March 2nd at 8:00am thru Sunday March 4th at 5pm. In order to facilitate the work that needs to take place on the high voltage system, power will be shut-off to the surrounding areas during the entire shutdown. Please note the following will be closed as a result of the power shutdown:

Closed Friday March 2nd 8:00 am thru Sunday March 4th 5 pm:

  • Parking Structure #2
  • Parking Structure #3

The contractor will provide temporary lighting to Parking Lot 12, Lot 11A and Lot 11B (surface lots adjacent to parking structures #2 and #3) during the outage to ensure these lots remain open to serve activities for CPAC, Athletics, SRWC and Music.

Areas that will be closed are highlighted in gray on this construction map. Contact Mark Zakhour at mzakhour@csulb.edu with any questions or concerns.

There is no news for Administration & Finance.
