Did you know carpooling is the second largest commuting mode in the U.S.? Carpool members/riders not only share the cost of gas and vehicle expenses, but they can also avoid traffic by utilizing one of the many HOV lanes on local freeways leading to campus! CSULB continues to encourage carpooling to promote sustainable travel habits and to facilitate reaching our overall climate goals both in the region and on campus.
Check out the Climate Action Plan (PDF) for more information about the campus goal of carbon neutrality by 2040.
The Waze App
Carpooling can be easier by using a rideshare mobile app like the Waze App.
These mobile applications match drivers with potential riders and provide the freedom to vet your carpool partners by a variety of criteria. Please visit Waze website for more info on how it works and if carpooling is right for you!
