CSU STEM Pathways and Research Alliance (CSU-SPaRA)
The CSU STEM Pathways and Research Alliance (CSU-SPaRA) Program at CSULB is for undergraduates majoring in a STEM field as they prepare for their next steps after completing their bachelor's.
Students can apply to the general CSU-SPaRA program at any time. The application period for the funded programs, Research Fellows and Summer Research, is open now until March 1, 2026 (application coming soon).
General CSU-SPaRA Program
Students accepted to the general CSU-SPaRA program are eligible for the following activities and opportunities:
- Career and research advising
- STEM textbook reimbursement (upon reimbursement approval)
- Workshops and guest speakers
- Assistance with graduate school application
- Network with other undergraduates and alumni
- Funded research opportunities
Research Fellows
CSU-SPaRA Research Fellows conduct funded research during the academic year, in addition to enjoying the benefits of general membership.
Summer Research
CSU-SPaRA Summer Research Participants conduct funded research during the summer term, in addition to enjoying the benefits of general membership.
