ADA Title II and You - September 2026
ADA Title II Refresher: What You Need to Know
As we begin a new academic year, here’s a quick refresher on ADA Title II and what it means for our campus.
What Is ADA Title II?
ADA Title II requires public universities like CSULB to ensure their digital content is accessible to people with disabilities. Updated federal requirements set WCAG 2.1 Level AA as the accessibility standard for web content and mobile apps.
Shared Campus Responsibility
Accessibility is a shared responsibility and an ongoing commitment. The Title II extended deadline of April 26, 2027 allows all faculty, staff and support teams to continue making meaningful and lasting improvements for our campus community.

TidyUp & UDOIT Tips for Faculty
As you prepare your next course(s), follow the recommendations below to ensure your content and materials meet compliance. It takes just a few minutes to get started:
- Clean up your course using TidyUP
Open TidyUP in your Canvas course to remove unused or duplicate content. This step alone can significantly reduce the amount of remediation needed later and give you an accurate UDOIT accessibility baseline score.
- Run an accessibility scan with UDOIT
Scan your course with UDOIT to identify inaccessible content and generate an accessibility score. To access UDOIT in Canvas:- Select "Settings" in your course.
- Select the Navigation tab.
- Drag UDOIT to the top section, and save.
- Remediate the “Easy Fixes” in UDOIT
Once your course is scanned for accessibility, UDOIT will guide you through remediating your course. Start by selecting the “Easiest to Fix” items for quick progress. Follow the guided steps to work through remediating the easiest accessibility issues.
