CECS Students Attend DataCon LA 2025
The Department of Computer Engineering and Computer Science sponsored the attendance of 76 students and 3 faculty members at DataCon LA 2025, the largest gathering of data scientists in Southern California. This strong participation provided students with valuable exposure to how data science is transforming diverse industries, along with opportunities to network with professionals and explore real-world applications of emerging technologies.
CECS also hosted a table to promote its Applied Data Science (ADS) program, which prepares students to apply AI and data science across multiple disciplines.
Dr. Shadnaz Asgari, CECS Chair, served as a panelist on the “Women in AI” session, where she discussed AI innovation, ethics, and education—highlighting CECS’s commitment to advancing applied AI and data science education.
The department will soon share findings from pre- and post-event student surveys to evaluate the impact of the conference on learning outcomes and guide future experiential learning initiatives that enhance career readiness and applied skills.
