Three new industry leaders have joined the College of Engineering Dean’s Advisory Council, expanding further into the automotive, construction, and power sectors. The new members are Susan Brennan, President and CEO of Romeo Power; Mike Guidry, Director of Engineering at DENSO Products and Services Americas Inc.; and Mary Teichert, President of Teichert Inc.

“These new members will add extensive knowledge and expertise to a council whose high-level professionals are critical in guiding the College on its future path,” said Dean Jinny Rhee. “I welcome them wholeheartedly as much-appreciated additions to this pivotal group.”

With more than 30 years experience in global manufacturing and operations for the automotive and energy industries, Brennan joined Romeo Power in 2021 with a dedication to accelerating technology, growth, and sustainability.

Prior to joining Romeo Power, she held strategic leadership roles with Bloom Energy, Nissan Motor, and Ford Motor. Brennan holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and a bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from the University of Illinois.

Guidry oversees engineering development of DENSO’s aftermarket light- and heavy-duty products. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from San Jose State University and is a member of SAE International and IEEE.

Guidry launched his career in 1995 as an electrical engineer in the automotive division of Aura Systems Inc. He joined Yamaha Motor Corp. in 1999 as a project engineer in the R&D and new business planning groups.; the Advanced Engineering System division of Panasonic Avionics Corp. as a senior project engineer in 2005; Honeywell Transportation Systems in 2007 as a principal engineer and later senior manager overseeing development of fuel-cell compressors, turbochargers, controllers, motors, and generators.

Teichert leads a fifth-generation family business founded in 1887, and holds California State Contractor’s License #8. She started as a quality assurance technician at the company, then advanced to plant management, material sales, estimating, project management, and division leadership prior to becoming COO in 2013 and president in 2020.

Prior to Teichert, she was director of strategy for a division of Apple, and a consultant for Bain & Co. in San Francisco. Teichert is currently Vice Chair of the California State License Board, Vice President of the Beavers (a heavy engineering construction association), a board member of AGC, a Senior Fellow with the American Leadership Forum, and a board member of the California BIA. She holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree from Harvard College.

Comprised of corporate, business, and community leaders, the Dean’s Advisory Council helps guide the College and ensure highest-quality education and career opportunities for students. The council advocates the College’s strategic vision and priorities, provides insight and expertise in developing goals, and helps plan new programs.
