The Long Beach Geophysical Survey trucks will be on our campus February 3, 4 and 11, using state of the art technology to image and map the geological strata and potential faults in Long Beach. This information will provide an unprecedented understanding of the deeper geology and potential faulting in our area. It also provides valuable drill data for our Geology instructional program. You may feel the ground slightly shaking while they are on campus. Rest assured, there are no safety issues. More information can be found here.
CSULB Community Service Award
Application Deadline – Friday, February 17, 2012
This is a reminder that applications are being taken for the Community Service Award, which is designed to recognize and encourage service by members of the CSULB family to the community within which they live. The award is sponsored by Academic Senate, Staff Council, the Alumni Association, and Associated Students.
For qualification, a wide range of service activities are eligible, including political, religious, and social activism. In all cases, sustained involvement and especially significant results are considered. Special attention will be given to noteworthy accomplishments within the past 12 months. Preference will be given to unpaid volunteer service which is not part of one's normal and expected occupational duties. Those eligible include CSULB faculty, staff, students, and alumni (to include all former students and friends of the university). Self-nominations are encouraged and awardees may reapply five years after receiving an award.
Information about the award and the application deadline of February 17, 2012 is available on the Staff Council website.
