You may purchase your permit online through our Parking Portal. Daily and Short-Term parking can be purchased remotely via the ParkMobile App or from a parking pay station located within each lot. Additional information on each permit type is provided below.
CSULB uses a virtual License Plate Recognition (LPR) permitting system. Your vehicle’s license plate is used to verify your parking purchase and only that reason. Plastic hangtags or paper permits are not required or issued.
Student virtual permits are valid in any General (G) Lot (excluding G15, which is designated as Short Term only) and the three campus parking structures unless the space is otherwise restricted with posted signage. Student permits are also valid in Employee (E) Lots after 5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, and all day on weekends. Student permits can be purchased online with a valid credit card (2.65% convenience fee) or via the e-check option (no fee). Fall permits are valid one week prior to the start of class instruction and spring permits are valid one day prior to the start of class instruction. Academic year virtual permits are valid one week prior to the start of fall instruction until the last day of Summer Intercession. Student Parking Fees (last updated December 1, 2021): Type CSULB uses the License Plate Recognition (LPR) permitting system. The vehicle’s license plate will be used to verify parking purchases. No plastic hangtags or paper permits are issued. There is a 2-vehicle limit per student permit. If you have not purchased academic year, semester or monthly parking, you may choose to purchase Daily or Short-Term parking from a parking pay station where those spaces are provided or via the Parkmobile App, a mobile payment option for Short-Term and Daily parking purchases on campus. Students who are sponsored by various internal/external departments need to submit an application through that specific department prior to receiving their parking permit. Examples of these departments include: Student Financial Services then processes the request for a permit and sends an email confirmation. Vehicles parked on campus prior to receiving a permit confirmation may risk receiving a citation. For additional questions, please contact Student Financial Services at 562.985.8280. The off-campus overflow lot is now closed. Overflow Permits are now allowed to park on campus in any location that student semester permits are allowed. Permits will expire on 6/5/2022. Dates: 2/7 - 3/10/2022 *Last shuttle will depart campus for the overflow lot at 5:30 p.m. Employee virtual permits are valid in any Employee (E) Lot or General (G) Lot as well as all three campus parking structures unless the space is otherwise restricted with posted signage. Employee permits are also valid in Short-Term parking spaces after 5:30 p.m. on Friday through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday night. Employee parking can be purchased online or at the Cashiers Office located on the first floor of Brotman Hall. Payments can be made with cash, check, or debit card, and also online with e-check (no fee) or credit card (2.65 % convenience fee). Available Employee Parking includes monthly, semester, academic year and full year depending on your employee unit. A pretax payroll deduction is available online (not available for semester permits). Monthly employee parking is valid from the first day of the month to the last day of the month. Semester employee parking is valid one week prior to the start of instruction. Annual employee parking is valid from July 1 to June 30 each year. Academic year parking is valid one week prior to the start of fall instruction through the end of the May Intersession. Employee Parking Fees - Monthly Payroll Deduction *Effective dates are from start to end date of payroll deduction. Faculty Parking Fees (EMP CFA - Unit 3 Only) 08/15/21 – 06/05/22 If you are a current CSULB faculty or staff member, we highly encourage you to carpool to campus if safe to do so. Not only do carpool members share the cost of gas and permit fees, but they can also avoid traffic by utilizing the HOV lanes on nearby freeways leading to campus. Additional information is available on our Carpool webpage. Valid for parking in Lot G2 only. Overnight parking is valid 24 hours from the time of purchase (main campus) or starting at 5 p.m. until 8:59 a.m. the following morning (Beachside campus). The Overnight Resident Guest virtual permit can only be purchased from the parking pay station within Lot G2 or in the Beachside Lot. Residents who have purchased a Residential virtual permit may choose to exchange their permit for a Motorcycle permit at no additional charge by visiting the Cashiers Office in Brotman Hall. Resident Permit Academic Year Fees All guests must purchase either daily or overnight parking to avoid a citation. Hillside and Parkside guests may obtain daily parking in General lots. Overnight parking is available for purchase and valid only in lot G2. Beachside guests may park in short-term parking spaces in the Beachside parking lot. Overnight parking will be available for purchase beginning at 5 p.m. daily. Short-term parking is available for purchase in the Beachside parking lot. Overnight parking Monday-Thursday is available for purchase and valid in only in in the Beachside lot Short-Term parking spaces after 5:30 pm. Overnight parking Friday - Sunday Resident fees include overnight guest permits in accordance with Housing & Residential Life procedures. Permits valid only in the Beachside lot Short-Term parking spaces. May park in any employee or general parking space on campus. Parking in designated resident spaces is prohibited. Daily and Short-Term parking can be purchased from the parking pay stations located within each parking area where spaces are provided. All pay stations are cashless, they accept credit cards and debit cards. If paying cash, please visit the Visitor Information Center (VIC) or Parking and Transportation Services Office. Please note that all pay stations on campus are paperless. If you require a receipt, please email us at ParkingGeneral@csulb.edu with your request and a receipt will be provided for you. Daily and Short-Term parking may also be purchased via the Parkmobile App. Parkmobile is a convenient service that even provides countdown reminders and the ability to extend your purchase via your mobile device. Download the Parkmobile App for Android or iPhone platforms. Daily parking is valid only within the lot it was purchased. Daily parking is valid in spaces designated as General Parking unless space is otherwise restricted with posted signage. Daily parking is also allowed in lots designated as Employee Parking after 5:30 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends. Daily parking expires at 11:59 p.m. on the date of purchase. Short-Term parking is available in 30, 60, or 90 minute increments and can be purchased at the pay stations located within the parking lots where Short-Term spaces are provided. These lots include G1, G4, G10, G15, E1, E5, the Beachside parking lot, the South Turnaround, and the street parking spaces located on State University Drive. Short-Term virtual permits are valid only within the lot in which they are purchased Short-Term and Daily Parking Prices (effective July 1, 2021) Students using a DMV-issued placard or distinguishing license plate must also purchase a valid parking permit if parking in an accessible parking space or Short-Term parking space. Students requiring accessible parking are not allowed to park in spaces marked as Employee Parking. Access to Employee spaces within Employee Lots is only permitted after 5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and all day on weekends. Valid paid parking may be obtained directly at the Cashiers Office during normal business hours or from a parking pay station. Students requesting specific parking accommodations should contact Bob Murphy Access Center at 562.985.5401 or BMAC@csulb.edu. All faculty and staff using a DMV-issued placard or distinguishing license plate must also purchase a form of paid parking when parking in an Accessible or Short-Term parking space on campus. Paid parking can be purchased at the Cashiers Office, through our online parking portal, or at the pay stations provided within each lot. Visitors requiring accessible parking may contact Parking and Transportation Services visit the Visitor Information Center (VIC) for Daily permits and other accessible campus parking information. The BMAC permit is valid in all lots designated as Employee (E) Parking, General (G) Parking and all campus parking structures unless the space is otherwise restricted with posted signage. To obtain a BMAC permit, please bring documentation referencing the need for accessibility to the Bob Murphy Access Center (BMAC), Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Valid in designated motorcycle spaces only. Please visit our campus map for designated motorcycle parking locations. Exception: Electric motorcycles may also be parked in EV charging spaces. Academic Year 2021-22 Emeriti virtual permits are now available for processing online through the online parking portal. Emeriti virtual permits are valid in all lots including Employee (E) Lots and General (G) Lots, unless the space is otherwise restricted with posted signage. We are currently not providing Volunteer permits at this time. More information will be announced soon as we continue to monitor local and state guidelines and the campus repopulation plan. Activity (Club Sport), LifeFit, Student Recreation and Wellness Center (SRWC) and Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) virtual permits are now available for purchase. Parking regulations for these permits are based on the permit type specified below: Valid in all designated General Parking and all Parking Structures unless the space is otherwise restricted with posted signage. Activity permits are valid after 4 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends. To obtain an Activity Permit, please fill out the Community Parking Request Form (PDF) and bring the completed form along with a valid driver's license to the Cashiers Office (BH 148) during normal business hours. Valid in all lots designated as General (G) Parking and the three campus parking structures. This permit is also valid in any Employee (E) Lot after 5:30 p.m., and all day on the weekends. To obtain a Community Permit, please contact the Parking office at 562.985.4146. Valid in E4 Permit spaces in the southern section of Lot E4. This permit is also valid in lots designated as General (G) Parking and all campus parking structures unless the space is otherwise restricted with posted signage. To obtain a LifeFit Permit, please fill out the Community Parking Request Form and bring the completed form along with a valid driver's license to the Cashiers Office (BH 148) during normal business hours. Please purchase parking for campus events from the ParkMobile app. ParkMobile information is clearly posted on signs located within each lot. You may also purchase your parking from a parking pay station located within the lot in which you desire to park. Daily parking permits are only valid within the parking lot in which they were purchased. Annual, academic year, and semester virtual permits are valid during campus events; therefore, no additional parking fees are necessary if you are already possess a student or employee virtual permit. Overnight parking is limited to university housing residents who have purchased Resident ("R") permits and park in Resident (R) Lots. Valid in lots designated as Employee (E) Parking, General (G) Parking, Short-Term parking spaces, and all campus parking structures unless the space is otherwise restricted with posted signage. Special Event parking, such as filming reservations, is issued specific to each event and is generally ordered in bulk through the campus EMS system. Permit costs will vary based on each agreement with Parking and Transportation Services and the departments/organizations hosting the event. Virtual permits may be refunded based on the current value remaining on the permit at the time of return. Specific guidelines are provided below. Fall, spring, summer or academic year virtual permits may be refunded based on the current value remaining on the permit at the time of return. Refund applications are accepted at the Cashiers Office. Refunds are subject to a one-time, $10 processing fee. Student Permit Refund Schedule (Spring Semester 2022): Return Date Annual, fall, summer and spring parking permits are prorated monthly, and based on the value remaining on the virtual permit. No refunds are given for partial months. Employee parking depreciates at a rate proportional to the monthly rate of the virtual permit. Refund requests will be accepted up to the date of full depreciation. Refund requests may be sent to ParkingGeneral@csulb.edu.
