FEA COVID-19 Policies

Definition of exposure: You have come into close contact (closer than 6' for more than 15 minutes) with someone who has a confirmed case of COVID-19.

In the event of exposure to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, you should self-monitor for symptoms, test for COVID-19, and vigilant use of face coverings indoors or outdoors.

You should not come to campus for at least 5 days, you must test negative at Day 6 in order to return.

In case of Covid-19, suspected Covid-19, and/or flu-like symptoms and illness: · Faculty should complete the Illness Reporting chiclet in SSO and a Notice of Absence form.

o The Notice of Absence form must be submitted to the Department Chair, who should contact the AD for approval when a temporary shift to online teaching is requested. o Follow the instructions on the COVID-19 Flow Chart. · Students should complete the notice of COVID-19 or Exposure to COVID-19 form.

Employees and students who test positive for the virus and are either asymptomatic or experience only mild symptoms may be able to work remotely. Please see the Guidelines for Instructional Modalities document for details.

  • Students
    • Students who have tested positive for COVID-19, or suspect they may be positive but have yet to test, can fill out this form to notify Student Health Services
  • Faculty & Staff
    • Employees (faculty & staff) should immediately report any illness to their administrative services manager (ASM) through sick-let.
    • The new illness reporting chicklet for faculty and staff, located in the CSULB single sign-on (SSO).

FEA will provide safety supply carts for FEA owned spaces for class instruction.

  • University will provide safety supplies for university controlled spaces.
  • Face shields are available for faculty
  • If any of the items need to be restocked or requested students, please inform faculty.
    • Faculty inform the Production & Technical Safety Supervisor or any available staff, or student employees.

Students, Staff, and Faculty must utilize hand sanitizer each time they enter and exit the classroom space. o Students and Faculty are expected to sanitize their personal workspaces as well as any equipment utilized during class. o Sanitizing supplies (like sanitizing wipes, microfiber or paper towels, and Morning Mist) are provided in classrooms and on the Safety Supply Carts. Faculty will dispose of waste in appropriate bins and will drop any microfiber cloths to be laundered in the UTC Conference Room. Please see the PPE and Safety Supply Section of this document for more information.

Testing On Campus:
Long Beach Department of Health & Human Services is offering COVID-19 testing for CSULB Students, Faculty, Staff & Community. This is free with or without insurance. Testing is located at the entry plaza of the Student Recreation and Wellness Center.

Testing At Student Health Services:
Testing for COVID-19 at CSULB Student Health Services is available by appointment. Please call 562.985.4771 for testing appointments and additional information.

Outdoor classes may be an option for Faculty.

Faculty must request, as far in advance as possible, any outdoor space they wish to utilize through Campus Events Office. If there is a last-minute request, Campus Events will make the best effort to accommodate.

Masks will be required for any class activity that takes place outside.

Campus community members must sanitize or wash their hands before entering class.

When working without gloves, all should wash their hands every 30 minutes.

When working with gloves, wash hands before donning and after removal of gloves.

Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based sanitizer when a handwashing sink is not available
