New Faces in CNSM

We're adding to our stellar teaching roster this year by welcoming new faculty members at CNSM.

The Department of Biological Sciences welcomes Dr. Peter Ramirez!

Dr. Ramirez received his B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from UC Santa Barbara, and his Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Utah.
His research area is in Virology.

The Department of Geological Sciences welcomes Dr. Andrea Balbas.

Dr. Balbas received her B.S. in Geology from City University of New York Queens College, and her Ph.D. in Geology from Oregon State University. Dr. Balbas has worked all over the world in field locations including Tahiti, the Pacific Northwest, the Galapagos Islands, and Antarctica.

The Department of Science Education welcomes Dr. Amy Ricketts.

Dr. Ricketts is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, Curriculum and Instruction (specialization in Science Education and Teacher Education). Dr. Ricketts was an elementary and middle school science teacher for 13 years before attending graduate school. 

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics welcomes 3 new faculty members: Dr. Brian Katz, Dr. Kathryn McCormick, Dr. Lihan Wang.

Dr. Brian Katz received his degree from the University of Texas at Austin and comes most recently from Augustana College and Smith College. His interests are in epistemology, professional development for college faculty, and the socially constructed nature of math.

Dr. Kathryn McCormick comes to CNSM from the University of Iowa via the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Dr. McCormick is an expert in operator algebras.

Dr. Lihan Wang received her degree from UC Irvine. Dr. Wang studies differential geometry and partial differential equations with an emphasis on elliptic operators on manifolds.
