Honorary Degree Recipients
Louise Shakarian-Ukleja's passion and work for the wellbeing of students — beginning at the elementary school level and continuing at The Beach — has earned her an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters (L.H.D.), which will be awarded May 17 during the College of Education Commencement ceremony.
Nelson has taken what she learned at The Beach and crafted an illustrious career. She’s a three-time Emmy Award winner, she’s helped pave the way for other female and minority filmmakers, and she is receiving an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters at next week’s Commencement at Angel Stadium of Anaheim.
Fashion designer Phillip Lim ’98 is receiving an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters during the College of the Arts Commencement ceremony on May 16. In her letter to Lim, President Jane Close Conoley said the Doctor of Fine Arts degree “will be awarded in recognition of your entrepreneurial vision, your pioneering contributions to design, and your enduring status as a leader in American fashion.”
Hilal's passion for giving back – to The Beach and to the greater business community – along with his successful, four-decade career, has earned him a Doctor of Humane Letters from the College of Engineering at next week’s Commencement at Angel Stadium of Anaheim.
