Write to Your Senators to Protect Transit Funding

Transit is Essential and is Hitting a Fiscal Cliff
Federal support is needed to protect this sustainable mode of travel.

The pandemic has plunged the nation’s transit agencies into financial crises. In many major cities, fare revenue is down more than 90%.

Efficient, frequent transit is essential to cities' transportation systems, and strengthens our cities' economies. Individuals working in hospitals, grocery stores, and delivery warehouses—rely on transit to commute to their workplaces.

Advocates estimate that without additional aid from the federal government, transit agencies will be forced to drop routes, cut back service, and lay off employees. Consequently, in this scenario, essential workers and people reliant on transit—disproportionately Black and Latine/x—will have a more difficult time traveling to necessary destinations such as their jobs, medical facilities, and grocery stores.

Negotiations in Congress on another relief package remain pending.

Please, take 30 seconds of your time today to write your Senators and let them know that transit must be accounted for in the next relief package. If you have two more minutes, please call them too.
