Celebrating Green Grads
To inspire a lasting commitment to protecting the environment, the Office of Sustainability encouraged graduates to participate in the Green Grad campaign, an initiative sponsored by the President's Commission on Sustainability. The campaign encouraged students to explore careers in sustainability and learn about the impacts of metallic and plastic confetti. This year more than 300 graduating students signed the pledge!
Five students, who signed the Green Grad pledge, were randomly selected to be a part of the photoshoot. The participants were photographed at three picturesque spots on campus including the fountain near Brotman Hall, the Walter Pyramid, and the iconic Go Beach letters.
Here is what a few of the green graduates shared with us about their experience:
Kamron Dionisio, who received her B.A. in Environmental Science & Policy shared "I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to present CSULB as a Green Grad. As an Environmental Science student, I feel that using sustainable practices, as part of our everyday life, is very important. I am glad I got the chance to display this through a photoshoot".
Graduate Emily Andrade stated "Participating in this photoshoot was such a special experience to me. During it, I felt reminiscent of my time here and felt appreciative for the memories that I have created".
Samara Galvez, who received a B.S. in Computer Science shared that "It was also really meaningful to have this opportunity as a graduating college student. With so many expenses to juggle—especially around exam time—it can be hard to justify the cost of senior photos. I actually took a leave from work in order to focus on finishing my degree, so finances have been tight. When I found out I was selected, I was genuinely excited and relieved to have one less thing to worry about".
Congratulations to all the 2025 Graduates!
