Transfer Student SOAR

Welcome to the Beach Family! SOAR provides incoming students with a set of shared experiences and information designed to set the tone for student achievement, personal growth and meaningful connections. Aligning with the university mission, a commitment to providing highly valued undergraduate opportunities is at the core of Student Orientation, Advising & Registration (SOAR). 

Transfer Student SOAR Process 

As a Transfer Student your SOAR will include:

• A two-part experience on two separate dates: one for your Orientation Workshop date and the other for your Registration date. When making your reservation you'll see these dates are automatically linked.
  First you will attend an in-person or virtual Orientation Workshopwhere you'll learn more about campus life and resources to support your transition to life at Cal State Long Beach.
  The next business day you will have access to register for your classes starting at 9 am.
• Parking on campus
• Beach swag and lunch
• Campus tour, resource fair and give aways
• Breakout sessions to learn more about campus resources
• Building community and connection with fellow students  

NOTE: The academic advising process is coordinated by your assigned college advising center or department faculty advisor through a series of emails that provide details, instructions, and deadlines.  Please check your student email often and review the communications for details regarding how and when you'll receive academic advising.

Transfer Student SOAR Dates

July 7 - July 24, 2026

Important: You will not be able to select a SOAR date until you submit your Admitted Student Reply and Enrollment Deposit by Thursday, May 1, OR the deadline determined by Admissions. The SOAR dates available to you are based on your academic college and set by your Academic Advising Center. The sooner you attend, the better your class selection will be. Your orientation workshop date is automatically linked to your registration date, which is the following business day after orientation.
