Drop-In Spaces

Drop-in support spaces are hosted by CAPS counselors to provide a supportive space for all CSULB students to connect on similar experiences and interests. Drop-in support spaces are not therapy groups, and you do not need to be a CAPS client to attend. Students are not expected to attend each group meeting but can join as often as needed.

    Summer 2021 Drop-In Spaces

    • It’s Been A While: This is a virtual support space for re-entering undergrad and grad students. This group addresses the unique challenges that older or nontraditional students may face when returning to college. Group members will benefit from a licensed psychologist as the facilitator as well as providing a place for members to share their experiences and to provide and receive feedback from others.

    • Thoughtful Thursday: A group for students who want to learn how to be more mindful. Be kind to your mind. Be present with your breath. Be gentle and kind with yourself. The group will give members a space to improve self-awareness and encourage focus and being more grounded.

    • Summer Lovin': A group for students wanting to manage their stress, develop and maintain a self-care routine and increase their overall positivity. This is an in person (not virtual) drop-in group which will utilize active and passive forms of activity including stretching, skipping, mindfulness exercises and role play.
