Health and Wellbeing Resources

CSULB health and wellbeing resources are campus services that assist students in achieving their academic goals and improving their overall quality of life.

Basic Needs

The Basic Needs Department assists and immediately serves students who have been displaced, experiencing homelessness, food insecurity, an emergency, and/or a crisis. Basic Needs provides services and resources to remove barriers and empower students to persist and thrive in their educational journey towards academic success.

Bob Murphy Access Center (BMAC) 

The Bob Murphy Access Center (BMAC), which assists students with disabilities by providing support services including accommodations for classroom and campus life activities, career development resources, and disability-related counseling.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) 

The Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), helps students meet the personal challenges associated with identifying and accomplishing academic, career, and life goals. Our services include short-term counseling for individuals, group counseling, career development counseling, referral services, psychoeducational workshops, crisis intervention, and outreach through peer programs

Student Health Services (SHS) 

The Student Health Services (SHS), your on-campus health clinic, open for virtual and in-person appointments. Includes general primary care, reproductive health care, sports medicine, case management, immunizations, laboratory, radiology, and pharmacy. Student Health Services also offers Behavioral Health Services, including a Psychiatrist, Case Manager who is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), ATOD/Violence and Sexual Misconduct counselor who is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Referral Nurse, and Campus Confidential Advocate to support survivors of sexual misconduct, intimate partner violence and stalking.

The Learning Center

The Learning Center (TLC) serves as the central provider of learning support services for the university community. Staff collaborate broadly with administrators on campus initiatives supporting student advancement and more narrowly with faculty to address the learning needs of their students. TLC programs serve the entire university, providing academic support services for all students, and job opportunities to successful students willing to help their peers in the pursuit of their degrees.

University Writing Center

The University Writing Center offers a variety of tutoring services and workshops for students across the campus, from one-on-one in-depth consultations where students can get answers to your writing questions to workshops on taking the GPE, writing strong arguments, and proofreading for error-free writing.

On-campus and off-campus health and wellness resources, aligned with the 8 dimensions of Well-Being, that are available specifically for CSULB students, faculty, and staff.

Campus Crisis Response Resources  

Campus crisis response resources assist the Beach community in cultivating a culture of care and promoting wellbeing at CSULB. 

Campus Assessment, Response, and Evaluation for Students Team (CARES)

CARES identifies, discusses, investigates, evaluates, and monitors student behavior which poses a concern and/or potential or actual threat to self or others. 

Campus Assessment & Stabilization Team (CAST)

Mobile mental health team supporting the Long Beach community with a humanistic response to urgent matters at CSULB.
