Summer Session Financial Aid

Financial aid can help cover some of the costs of taking classes during the summer. Since the summer semester at CSULB is considered the last term of the academic year, your eligibility will be based off of your 2021-2022 FAFSA application. Aid funding for the summer comes from the Pell Grant, Cal Grant, Direct Loans, or private loans. Your aid options will typically consist of any aid you did not use during the academic year.

Due to limited available funding, your summer aid package may be very different from the awards and amounts you received during the academic year.  Specifically, State University Grant (SUG), SEOG, EOP, and Federal Work-Study funding is not available during the summer.

For Summer 2022, you do not need to submit an application for any summer grant aid. You will be awarded grant aid within a week of enrolling for summer, beginning in March 2022, as long as you have eligibility and have enrolled in summer courses. If you are interested in borrowing loans, you will need to submit a loan application for summer.
