Summer Dates and Deadlines

This page includes a detailed listing of specific deadlines by session that are important for registration, financial aid, fee payments, and refunds. For information on university holidays and future academic years, refer to the Academic Calendar.

All times are in Pacific time. 

Summer 2026

Summer classes at CSULB are offered during multiple sessions. The session codes below are used in the Schedule of Classes to identify the dates for each class.

Continuing CSULB student registration begins
Current CSULB students can register through MyCSULB Student Center. Registration appointment times are based on graduation status, class level, and units earned.

Continuing visiting (non–CSULB) student registration begins
Visiting students who enrolled through Open University in the same academic year (fall, winter, or spring) can register through MyCSULB Student Center.

Visiting students enrolling for the first time must contact the College of Professional and Continuing Education to register.

Waitlist Deadline
Last day of waitlist auto–enrollment. After this date, waitlists are no longer used.

Last day to add or drop classes without approval
Deadline to add, swap, or drop a class without approval. Deadline to drop and receive a full refund (see “Refunds” below). All changes must be completed by 10 p.m.

A $25 late registration fee will apply for initial registration starting this date or later.

Late add (with approval only)
Starting the first day of classes, approval of the class instructor is required to add a class. Use "Permission to Add" on MyCSULB Student Center to request to add a class.

Late drop (starting the first day of classes)
Starting the first day of classes, drops can be submitted on MyCSULB Student Center by clicking "Enrollment Adjustments" and choosing the Withdraw function.

Grade Option Change Request Deadline
Deadline to change grading option for a class to Credit/No Credit (CR/NC) or Audit (AU).

University Census
Finalize your enrollment by this day. Schedule changes after this day are not permitted, except for approved withdrawals.

Withdraw (with approval only)
After University Census, you may request to withdraw. Approval of the class instructor and department are required. If approved, you'll receive a W on your transcript for the class.

Catastrophic Withdrawals
Withdrawal during the final three weeks of instruction is not permitted unless there are serious and extenuating circumstances beyond your control that prevent you from continuing in your classes and incompletes are not possible.

Current CSULB students who completed a 2025–2026 FAFSA/CADAA do not need to submit an application for summer grant aid. Beginning in March, eligible students will be awarded grant aid within a week of enrolling for summer.

Students who are interested in borrowing loans will need to submit a loan application for summer.

Disbursement begins
Most financial aid funds are applied toward any outstanding charges, including any installment plans. Summer financial aid is disbursed on the first day of the applicable session.

Loan Application Deadline
The deadline to submit a summer loan application is two weeks prior to the end of your summer classes. (If you are enrolled in more than one summer session, the deadline is whichever is later.)

Fee Payment Deadline
Fees are due 30 days after registration or by this deadline, whichever occurs first. Your payment due date is available on MyCSULB Student Center. If you register after this day, your fees will be due the next day. (A $10 late payment fee will be assessed on balances past due after this day.)

The university automatically generates summer refunds during the week of August 1, 2026. Please allow 4–6 weeks for all refund processing.

Drop all classes by this day to receive a full refund, minus a $10 processing fee. Starting the first day of classes, students who drop all their classes will owe prorated fees based on the date of withdrawal.
