How to Apply: Major-Specific Admissions Requirements

Film & Electronic Arts (FEA)

Note to new applicants: Our curriculum has changed! The Narrative Production and Theory & Practice Options have been combined into a new degree. Starting Fall 2024, there is no longer a portfolio requirement to study Directing or Cinematography. When applying, you should select the B.A. in Cinematic Arts. (Note: You might see the B.A. in Film & Electronic Arts, Theory & Practice Option as your only choice, depending on when you apply. Either choice will enroll you in the new degree program. ) Within our degree, there are now seven tracks: Directing, Cinematography, Creative Nonfiction Production, Screenwriting, Postproduction, Producing, and Critical Studies. You will select a track to focus on during your final two years in the program.
Our innovative program emphasizes both theory and practice.  Focusing on the integration of moving images, culture, and technology, the curriculum is designed to develop technical skills while providing a foundational education in the arts and humanities.

The faculty consists of industry professionals and media scholars with diverse skills that encompass film, digital, and broadcast production.  Media history and aesthetics are taught as an integral part of production practices.

***Please note: the Film and Electronic Arts Minor will no longer be accepting applicants in Fall 2023.***

First year students interested in Film and Electronic Arts (FEA) are admitted as "Pre-Film and Electronic Arts."  There is no portfolio requirement for incoming first year applicants.
