K. Alexander Perez

K. Alexander Pérez is an educator and writer from the San Fernando Valley. He holds an MA in English from CSU Northridge and a BA in Literature from UC Santa Cruz. At CSUN he was a Pedagogy Fellow and recipient of the Mitchell Marcus Prize, and he was a winner of the 2025 PAMLA Paula Svonkin Creative Arts Award. His research interests include Latine literature and literacies, speculative literature, and narrative theory.

Professor Pérez is also an author of speculative fiction centering the Central American community and its folklore. His published fiction can be found in literary magazines such as In Another Time Magazine, Bourbon Penn, and Suburban Witchcraft. At the collegiate level, his teaching encompasses composition, literature, and ethnic studies. He is passionate about building reading, writing, and community engagement skills with his students. In his off time, he rides his bike, walks his dogs, and watches films.
