It’s that time of the year again for Earth Week(s) at the BeachDue to the pandemic, our programming will remain virtual again this year, but that does not mean that we do not have a fun month of events in store for you! Check out our lineup of special, online events throughout the month, starting April 1st. 

From an engaging panel on social and environmental justice issues to an interactive online gallery of student sustainability projects, there is something for everyone. This year, we are continuing to focus on events that recognize and empower positive and equitable change and wellness for all people and the planet. 

All Earth Week(s) at the Beach events are FREE. Also, make sure to check out the numerous Earth Month events taking virtually at other CSU, UC, community college systems, and private colleges across the state during the month of April.

Biking for the Body, Mind and Planet

Learn the health benefits cycling has to offer along with tips on the right bike, routes, and accessories to make commuting by bike your new go-to. By cycling to run errands, travel to work, and or school, you can kill three birds with one stone: exercise, getting from point A to Point B, and reducing your carbon footprint.

Plant-A-Plant

Dream of becoming a plant parent? This workshop will highlight essential plant care tips that will brighten your green thumb and help you grow happy, healthy plants. Students will also learn about sustainable gardening practices and the therapeutic effects of plant care through a live planting demo! Free kits are available to the first 30 students to register. Contactless pick up will occur on April 16 at CSULB. More information about contactless pick-up procedures will be emailed to kit recipients directly. Note: You do not need a kit to attend this event.

Innovation Hour Sustainability Showcase

is year, the Office of Sustainability, Institute for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (IIE), and Associated Students, Inc., are partnering to bring you the Innovation Hour & Sustainability Showcase (IHSS)! This virtual event will provide an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate CSULB students to display and gain recognition for all types of sustainability-related projects from a variety of disciplines.

We are seeking sustainability-focused business pitches, research posters, artworks, prototypes, videos, performances and more to be highlighted during a virtual Innovation Hour Sustainability Showcase event on April 21, 2021. Students from all majors are encouraged to submit a project of any kind, as long as it is related to a sustainability issue or solution. All participants will be required to submit a 1-3 minute YouTube video explanation of your project by the April 7th deadline.

Earth Day 2021: Taking Action for People and the Planet

Encouraged by the positive response to our Climate Justice = Social Justice events last semester, sustainability officers across the CSU are once again collaborating to organize a systemwide virtual event in honor of Earth Day 2021!

Join us for a 1 hour panel discussion and Q & A with young leaders of the intersectional environmental and climate justice movement followed by 30 minute, action-oriented break-out discussions.
