Wetlands Ecology Lab

Dr. Christine Whitcraft, Principal Investigator

Our lab studies "all things wetlands" from microbes to fish. We are interested in how human activities influence the structure and function of coastal wetlands, particularly food webs. Our projects include work on the impacts of non-native and invasive species, altered hydrology, climate change, and restoration in fields sites from Baja to San Francisco.

Specific projects include evaluating impacts of sea level rise and temperature increase, designing and evaluating coastal resilience and restoration projects including living shorelines and sediment augmentation, understanding habitat requirements of endangered birds, tracking fish movements in an urban lagoon, and quantifying the impacts of several non-native species.
