Calculating Your GPA

To calculate your GPA, use the following instructions.

  • Assign a grade point value to each letter grade according to the following scale.
    A = 4 grade points
    B = 3 grade points
    C = 2 grade points
    D = 1 grade point
    F = 0 grade points
  • Add the units and grade points separately.
  • Multiply total units by the grade points
  • Then, divide the total grade points by total units to get the average, as shown below.

Note: Grades in approved honors courses taken in the 11th and 12th grades are assigned an additional point for "A," "B" or "C" grades. There are no honors points awarded for "D" and "F" grades. A maximum of eight extra points for approved honors courses will be awarded. A maximum of two of these units can be completed in the 10th grade.

B 10 x 3 30
C 2 x 2 4
D 1 x 1 1
F 1 x 0 0
