Provost's Message - June 2023

June 2023

Year-End Reflections

Hi friends, the 2022-23 academic year has successfully come to a close. We have over 15,000 new CSULB graduates, and summer is here. Together, we have generated many institutional wins, and as we review the last year, I hope each of us can say that we contributed a part to the collective success of The Beach.

At our Staff Recognition Event, we will honor the milestones and "workiversaries" of our dear colleagues who have been with the campus for 5, 10, and even 45 years! I greatly look forward to honoring those who make this campus a special one. It takes the efforts of ALL of us to achieve what we do year in and year out, so I thank each of you for playing such a pivotal role.

This month, I am looking forward to observing Juneteenth together as a campus, throughout the CSU system, and nationwide. I encourage all of us to not only reflect on this commemoration of the end of slavery, but to also recognize the continued struggle for civil rights and equality in our nation.

This month also brings with it some well-deserved rest. As the campus quiets and slows down, I hope each of us can find the time to prioritize projects, planning for what is to come, and ourselves as we find time to relax and recharge. Please take advantage of this time, and remember that you are an essential part of Team Beach. We are wishing you well this summer.

GO BEACH!
