Living On-Campus
By choosing to live in Student Housing, you agree to uphold the safe, inclusive environment our team works hard to create. We provide essential information for residents to understand the responsibilities of being a community member, including the policies and expectations for living on campus to keep our communities safe for everyone.
Every area in housing is led by an Area Coordinator and Residential Life Coordinator(s) who supervise Resident Assistants (RAs) and Desk Assistants (DAs) that are dedicated to making your time living at The Beach safe, enjoyable, and supportive of your academic and career goals.
All residents are encouraged to download Microsoft Teams to join their building chats. These chats are used for urgent notifications, event and services promotion, and community building.
We have found that residents will use Microsoft Teams as a way to connect with peers in there building without having to share cell phone numbers or social media information. This makes it easy for roommates, suites, and peers to connect on a University platform to update one another or respectfully bring up questions/concerns such as if a neighbor is playing music a little too loud or kindly reminding neighbors to pick up their hair from the shower.
Students seeking housing accommodations including but not limited to emotional support animals (ESAs) or service animals, single rooms, and ADA accessible spaces must fill out the BMAC Housing Accommodations Application.
CSULB is home to a fully functioning police department that strives to create a safe and secure environment for all students and community members. The University Police Department (UPD) facilitate several campus safety programs including the Night Escort Program, Bike U-Lock Program, and Community Service Officer Program that checks exterior doors and conduct foot patrols of our residence hall communities each night.
Housing staff members have a duty to report campus/housing policy violations, any incidents that fall under Title IX, as well as circumstances where a student is at risk of harming themselves or others.
