Drop-Off/Pick-Up Zones

IMPORTANT NOTE: The West Turnaround/GO BEACH letters is not a safe or legal drop-off location. This area is a red curb zone, which is designated for buses and campus shuttles ONLY. Vehicles will be cited if found dropping off or picking up at this location. For lower campus drop-off, please use the East Turnaround near the Central Plant. For upper campus drop-off, please use the South Turnaround. Both of these locations do not have city bus traffic and provide additional space for increased pedestrian and vehicle safety.

In Fall 2023, Parking and Transportation Services created the improved Drop-Off/Pick-Up zones around campus and a 15-min, no-fee cellphone waiting area near the CSULB Library. These new zones were designed to decrease vehicle congestion from known trouble spots on campus, increase pedestrian safety and provide improved ADA features at each of these locations.

These new zones are located near points of interest including key academic buildings, CSULB Library, University Theater, as well as athletic and performing arts venues. Each zone features high visibility signage, way-finding markers and ADA accessible curb cuts and ramps.

Zone locations:

  1. South Campus Turnaround
  2. Liberal Arts Buildings/West Campus Dr.
  3. Family and Consumer Sciences/Beach Dr.
  4. Walter Pyramid
  5. CPAC
  6. East Campus Turnaround/Power Plant

Cellphone Waiting Area

In addition to these improved Drop-Off/Pick-Up areas, a cellphone waiting area has been created in the South Turnaround on upper campus and functions similarly to what is seen at most airports. Drivers are able to park in these spaces temporarily without purchasing a parking permit, make contact with their passengers, and then move forward to a zone on campus to complete their pick-up. It is important that individuals always stay with their vehicles when utilizing these spaces and do not remain past the 15-minute time limit. Unattended vehicles will be subject to citation.

To view all Drop-Off/Pick-Up Zones and the Cellphone Waiting Area, please visit the interactive campus map.

We hope these areas will make it easier, safer and more convenient for students and visitors to be dropped off and picked up around our campus as well as remove traffic and unsafe pedestrian situations in areas of high traffic.
