Dr. Kyle Banick
Mondays  ·  5:30pm–8:15pm  ·  LA5–151

This course examines the relationship between phenomenology and skepticism. We will retrace Husserl’s understanding of the history of skepticism, beginning with the ancient Sophists and Pyrrhonists before turning to Cartesian and Humean skepticism. Against this background, we will examine how skeptical challenges to the foundations of knowledge motivate Husserl’s evolving account of the phenomenological epoché and reduction.
