On February 27, 2026, MA candidate Emily Linstead won third place in the Behavioral and Social Sciences category at the campus-wide CSULB Student Research Competition. Her talk was based on her MA thesis research, titled "Examining the Use of Biological Anthropology and the Prevalence of Pelvic Typologies in Obstetrics Education." Linstead is advised by Dr. Jeanelle Uy.
"Medical education is slow to embrace new information from other disciplines," Linstead explains. "I argue that medical schools should embrace multidisciplinary sources when structuring their programs, including those from biological anthropology."
