Preparing for Spring 2022

Spring 2022 to start Primarily AMI (Alternative Modes of Instruction)

President Conoley recently announced the delay of most face-to-face classes until Monday, February 7.

Please note the following:

  • Spring 2022 courses begin Thursday, January 20.

  • The announced period is a temporary switch to AMI. After this period of time, all courses will go back to their scheduled mode of instruction pending local health guidelines and recommendations.

  •  Changing a class to a different mode of instruction for the remainder of the semester after we return from this temporary switch to AMI will be highly monitored and based on a formal approval process. This process requires a faculty member or student to request an accommodation. If an accommodation is approved, an option may be to change to a class with a different mode of instruction if one is available.

  • Faculty must post how the AMI switch will affect individual courses on Beachboard, or email students.

  • Please check with your associate dean and/or chair for additional questions and resources. All buildings and labs will be open and faculty will have access to their offices or classrooms for zoom instruction if needed.

Interim CSU COVID-19 Policy

 

The CSU announced that all individuals who access campus/programs must be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus, which includes boosters as defined by the interim policy.

CSULB Vaccine Clinic

 

The clinic is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and should be accessed via the main entrance to Student Health Services. The clinic offers first, second doses and booster of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to the campus community.

 

The university will soon require third shots, or booster shots, as part of its immunization policy. For more information, log into to Single Sign-On to view an instructional video on how to upload booster verification.

Per current CDC recommendations, people with COVID-19 should isolate for 5 days and if they are asymptomatic or their symptoms are resolving (without fever for 24 hours), followed by five additional days of wearing a medical grade mask when around others to minimize the risk of infecting people they encounter.
 
People who ARE fully vaccinated should wear a medical-grade mask around others (indoors and outdoors) and test on day 5.
People who ARE NOT fully vaccinated should stay at home for 5 days and continue to wear a medical-grade mask around others (indoors and outdoors) for an additional 5 days, and test on day 5.

CSULB COVID-19 Prescreen

All students, employees, and guests visiting CSULB facilities or engaging in any in-person university experience off-campus must complete the daily COVID-prescreen prior to arrival. (add SSO and downloadable app info). These individuals may come to campus if their COVID prescreen yields a green checkmark. Check marks may be confirmed daily by professors and University staff.

 

Those individuals whose prescreen yields a red X will be contacted immediately for follow-up and further instructions. Once authorized by Student Health Services (SHS), they will receive a follow up green check and they can come to campus. 

 

 

Parking Permit Updates

 

As a reminder, to restart payroll deduction an employee needs to go online to parking permits and select the payroll deduction option. Monthly employee permits can still be purchased online in lieu of payroll deduction. Additionally, daily permits will be available in Employee (E) Lots as an alternative permit option for shorter stays on campus.

New Face-Covering Requirements for Faculty and Staff



Faculty and staff are now required to wear a well-fitting medical-grade mask, surgical mask, or higher-level respirator such as an N-95 or KN-95 filtering respirator at all times while indoors on campus. Those requesting to be supplied with an N-95 mask must understand and sign a one-time training acknowledgment form to ensure users know how to properly wear the respirator as required by CalOSHA.

 

Face coverings, including N-95 and KN-95 respirators, surgical masks, and disinfectant supplies are available upon request at no cost by emailing: COVID-PPE@csulb.edu.

All researchers (faculty, students, and research staff) in laboratories may return to campus for their research activities. Researchers will no longer be required to follow distancing rules in research facilities. Face coverings will continue to be required for everyone regardless of vaccination status
