What fears or anxieties did you have about going to college?

Going to college, I was anxious if I would be able to manage my schedule and time between study, work, and socializing. I was overly conscious of what I must do for my work and study, often shunning myself into a life of abstinence, austerity, and solitude. Fortunately, I made a few good friends in college who share similar circumstances and challenges with me. We still remain close friends, sharing our ups and downs in our lives.

Believe that you can do whatever you set your mind to do! So take chances and challenge yourself. Don't waste time being shy or nervous or regretting what you haven't done. Start working hard now. You may have tough moments, but always remember that you've already got what it takes.

I like biking and hiking in summer and skiing in winter. The feeling of cold air in my lung rejuvenates and invigorates me. Also, the tingling sensation of frostbite is exciting!

I nannied a boy with autism spectrum disorder. He had a penchant for grapes, pickles, and Cheetos. Everyday, we would fight over what to eat. Never knew that eating can be so difficult. He is now 6'2" and lives independently in Minnesota.

My research interests include the effects of high-quality early childhood education on child development, the role of early childhood educator competencies, and quality rating systems in early childhood education and child development. Additional interests include the parenting, nutritional, and educational needs of student parents who attempt to manage multiple responsibilities and identities resulted from marriage, parenthood, low-income, and employment. I teach courses in child development, language development, and diversity.
