Go Beach! Discounted Bus Pass

The Go Beach! discounted pass is available to all CSULB students, staff and faculty, and is valid on all Long Beach Transit (LBT) bus routes. Please follow the appropriate instructions below to purchase this pass. In short, it is BeachGO app > featured rewards > receive a one-time promo code > use that code at checkout when purchasing the pass via TAP.

Customers are encouraged to use the TAP app as the most convenient method for paying fare on LBT buses. Students with international Android phones may not be able to utilize the TAP app and therefore may prefer the physical TAP card. Full details about both processes are provided in the two sections below.

  1. Download the BeachGO app, create an account and verify your student/staff status by using your CSULB email address.
  2. On the BeachGO app, navigate to Rewards, then select Featured to see both the 30-day and 150-day pass options.
  3. Create or log into your TAP account via the TAP App (available for iOS or Android).
  4. On the TAP app, select the "Cards" tab.
  5. If you already have a registered card on the TAP app, select that card and skip to Step 8.
  6. If you do not have a registered card on the TAP app, select the "add card" icon.
  7. Select “Add a TAP Card to Apple Wallet” (For Android users: Select “Add a TAP Card on Your Phone”).
  8. Create a nickname for your card and select continue.
  9. Select “Redeem Code”.
  10. Enter the one-time promo code at checkout that you just received from BeachGO.
  11. The shopping cart will show the discounted pass price. Select “Purchase” to complete order transaction.
  12. Select “Next” to add your virtual TAP card with the discounted pass to your wallet (you must add the TAP card to your phone’s wallet to pay the fare).
  13. You will receive a confirmation email with information about contacting TAP should you require additional customer service or assistance.

If you prefer to use a physical card, don’t have a smart phone or are an international Android user, you can purchase the pass online at taptogo.net. You must have a physical TAP card BEFORE purchasing the pass at www.taptogo.net.

  1. IDownload the BeachGO app, create an account and verify your student/staff status by using your CSULB email address.
  2. On the BeachGO app, navigate to Rewards, then select Featured to see both the 30-day and 150-day pass options.
  3. If you already have a physical TAP Card, skip to step 5.
  4. If you do not have a physical TAP Card, you can obtain one in person at the Parking and Transportation Services Office, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
  5. Visit the TAP webpage, create an account, and select “Buy or Reload TAP Card”.
  6. Select “Register Card”, enter the card number, and create a card nickname.
  7. Now that your physical TAP Card is registered, select “My TAP Cards”.
  8. Select “Redeem Code” and enter the code you just received from the BeachGO app.
  9. The shopping cart will now show the discounted price at checkout. Complete the transaction with preferred payment.
  10. Wait at least 60 minutes after purchase for the pass to be active.
  11. Tap the card on a bus within 30 days of purchase to activate the card.
  12. You will receive a confirmation email with information about contacting TAP should you require any customer service assistance.

NOTE: You have the option of converting your physical TAP card to a virtual TAP card at any time. Physical cards become invalid after this conversion and should be disposed of.
