Alumni Support Keeps Geology Students in the Field
Last year the COVID-19-related restrictions almost caused Summer Field Geology, a capstone experience focused on developing field skills, to be canceled entirely. Thankfully, through a crowd-funding effort, dozens of Geology alumni contributed to save it.

Megan Mortimer-Lamb was awarded the H. Victor Church Memorial Award in recognition of the best poster presented at the Pacific Section of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.

Former Masters Students Publish Manuscripts
Two former CSULB Masters students, Yannick Wirtz and Leo Giannetta, have just had manuscripts derived from their theses accepted for publication in a Special Publication of the Geological Society of America.
Dr. Becker Selected for Fulbright Award to Australia
Dr. Becker will be in residence at Curtin University, Perth Australia, working on applications of fiber optic sensing for water resources and enhanced geothermal energy in Spring 2022.
