Book Talk: Dr. Matthew H. Sommer

You are invited a talk by Professor Matthew Sommer from the History Department at Stanford University. Professor Sommer will be speaking about his book, The Fox Spirit, the Stone Maiden, and Other Transgender Histories from Late Imperial China (winner of the 2025 John Bosworth Prize given by the LGBTQ+ History Association), on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. in the Library Room 501. The event is co-sponsored by the Departments of Asian and Asian American Studies, History, and Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies, and the University Library. Funding for the event has been provided by the CLA Scholarly Intersections Grant.
