My time at CSULB has been nothing short of transformative. As a nontraditional student navigating learning disabilities and financial challenges, I discovered a true home at The Beach—a place where I grew academically, personally, and professionally. Some of my proudest highlights include presenting with the APE team at CAHPERD, leading peers in fitness and wellness initiatives, and cultivating lifelong connections grounded in service and leadership. CSULB has not only shaped my journey but also deepened my alignment with my purpose of empowering others through health and education.
I chose CSULB because of its strong Kinesiology and Adapted Physical Education programs, its commitment to diversity, and its supportive community. I wanted to be at a place where I could both grow and give back—and The Beach gave me that.
I was working with a director at El Camino College when I first learned about Adapted Physical Education. On Beach Day, the very first professors I met were Dr. Bittner and Dr. Hill, who both spoke passionately about how impactful the program was. Inspired, I did my own research and made the decision to come here—and it’s truly been the best decision of my life. This program has shaped me into the knowledgeable, dedicated educator I am today.
After graduation, I will begin my teacher credential program in Fall 2026 through Project CAPE, which will help me take the next step toward becoming an educator. Long-term, I aspire to become a PE Director, entrepreneur, and philanthropist—empowering youth and communities through health, wellness, and education. My ultimate goal is to use the foundation CSULB gave me to create meaningful change and inspire others to live healthier, purpose-driven lives.
I plan to stay connected by serving as a mentor to upcoming students, keeping strong relationships with the mentors who guided me, and continuing to work at Camp Nugget and 49ers Camp during the summers. I also want to remain engaged with organizations such as CSULB Latino Center, CSULB Alumni and support programs that uplift students academically and personally. The Beach has given me so much, and I’m committed to giving back and keeping those connections alive.
