Senior Profiles

Looking back, I realize I should have known from the start: my four years at the Beach would become the best years of my life.

My plan for after school is to travel overseas and play professional volleyball. I plan to make a push for the Canadian National Team and compete in the 2028 Olympics.

I chose to attend CSULB due to the great California weather and location in addition to the great basketball team.

As an international student from Japan, moving to the United States and building a life from the ground up was challenging at first. Everything felt unfamiliar, but the people I met at CSULB made the transition easier and helped me feel supported from the very beginning.

CSULB has shaped not only my professional goals, but my identity as a leader who values service, inclusion, and intentional community-building.

The variety of clubs and activities available [at CSULB] kept me very engaged, and the strong psychology program we have made me fall in love with my major even more.

CSULB was one of my two top choices because of the great things I’ve about the programs there, and when I switched to journalism I was ecstatic to find out how diverse the journalism program is.

Coming in as a nontraditional student with learning disabilities and financial challenges, I found a home at The Beach where I grew academically, personally, and professionally.

"I was actively involved in the Veterans Club and often enjoyed studying at The Nugget, which became one of my favorite spots on campus. I'm incredibly grateful to have utilized Chapter 31 benefits to support both my bachelor's degree and now my pursuit of a Master’s in Forensic Psychology.".

With the unconditional support of my success teams, including BMAC/LIFE Project, the professors who’ve become my mentors, and my online friends-family, I’m now proud to identify as an AuDHD woman and build my career as a disability activist.

I chose CSULB because of its strong business program, welcoming community, and the opportunities to gain real-world experience.

Come of my favorite moments have been catching sunsets on the beach, feeding the fish at the Japanese Garden, badminton at the gym and having my favorite meal at the dining hall.
