SBP Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. All incoming EOP first-year students are required to participate in the Summer Bridge Program. EOP Summer Bridge will prepare you to understand the program requirements and the importance of being an EOP student. Summer Bridge will also prepare you for fall classes and promote a successful transition to CSULB.

EOP will offer two one-week residential sessions of the Summer Bridge Program. In addition to a 3-day Commuter option (Students do not stay in the dorms during the commuter program. 

Session 1: Sunday, July 9th – Friday, July 14th (Residential)

Session 2: Sunday, July 16th – Friday, July 21st (Residential)

Session 3: Monday July 24,2023 - Wednesday July 26, 2023 (Commuter)

The EOP Summer Bridge Program is an in-person orientation to the campus and will consist of a residential experience. Students will live on-campus in the residence hall (dorms) and will participate in academic workshops, enrichment, and engagement activities throughout the week.

Students will live on-campus in the residence halls (dorms) and will be provided with a double occupancy room. Roommates will be assigned by EOP. Students will have access to the dining hall for breakfast, lunch, and dinner throughout the week. 

No, the Summer Bridge Program is absolutely free of charge. 

No. The COVID-19 vaccine is not required, but Strongly recommended.

All rooms are furnished with a bed, dresser, desk, chair, bookshelf, wastebasket, closet, and mirror for each resident. Students must provide their own blankets bedspreads, towels, sheets, pillow(s)/pillowcases and study lamps (no halogen lamp).

Below is a list of recommended items to make your stay comfortable:

  • Clothes for the week / clothes hangers
  • Towels and washcloth
  • Toiletries: Toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, deodorant, shampoo, etc.
  • Shoes / Slippers
  • Sheets (twin extra-long 80" x 34")
  • Pillow(s) / Pillowcase(s)
  • Blanket / Bedspread
  • Alarm clock
  • Phone charger
  • Photo ID / proof of health insurance
  • Backpack or book bag

*Stereos, refrigerators, and other appliances are NOT allowed. Pets are NOT allowed in the dorms.

You will be required to have overnight parking permit to park on campus during Summer Bridge. Due to limited space, we encourage all students to NOT bring a car during Residential Summer Bridge. Please contact eopadmissions@csulb.edu if you have any questions regarding parking.

A student may be excused on a case-by-case basis and at the discretion of the EOP program. A student must have an extenuated circumstance that prevents them from attending the Summer Bridge Program. During EOP Commuter Summer Bridge Program, students will participate in activities that help them learn about the campus culture, EOP history, academic writing preparation, leadership development and financial aid information, and how to identify resources and services. Summer Bridge is also a great way for students to engage and network with other EOP students and build meaningful connections prior to the start of the school year.

EOP Commuter Summer Bridge is NOT a residential program. You will be required to commute on your own to and from campus for the duration of the program.

EOP Commuter Summer Bridge Program is not a residential program. Each day you commute to the program you should bring a pen, paper, and wear comfortable clothing. Also be ready to have some fun and meet new people. 

Yes, EOP Commuter SBP will provide free parking for student that need it. Snacks and lunch are provided each day of the program.
