Safer Program

Welcome to Safer

We are a campus resource committed to providing confidential advocacy and support services to students, faculty, and staff impacted by sexual harassment/assault, relationship violence, or stalking. Through compassionate care, survivor-centered advocacy, and comprehensive violence prevention programming, we strive to foster a safer and empowered campus community.

Speaking with an advocate offers a quiet, confidential space to talk things through, gently and at your own pace. Reaching out won’t initiate any formal action—no reports, investigations, or complaints.  It’s simply support—no pressure, just someone to listen and help you explore what feels right for you.

Advocacy Services

Confidential support for students, staff and faculty impacted by sexual harassment/assault, relationship violence, and stalking, regardless of how long ago the incident occurred. Safer Advocates are California state-certified sexual assault and domestic violence counselors.

Services include:

  • Crisis intervention, emotional support and safety planning
  • Advocacy on behalf of victim/survivor with other individuals, departments and agencies including coordinating supportive measures, accommodations and other supports
  • Accompaniments to forensic exams, Title IX meetings, law enforcement interviews, court appointments, etc.
  • Referrals and resources both on and off campus

Safer Advocates are available to listen, support, and connect you with resources—whether you’re seeking help, information, or just someone to talk to.

Prevention & Education

Creating a culture of respect on campus starts with learning about important topics like consent, healthy relationships, and how to recognize and prevent harm before it happens. When we take the time to educate ourselves and support one another, we help build a safer, more caring community for everyone.

Safer offers free workshops on a range of topics related to preventing harm and promoting healthy relationships. CSULB students, faculty, and staff are welcome to request a workshop by filling out our workshop request form. Online request form coming soon. Please contact us at Safer@csulb.edu for assistance.
