Provost's Message - November 2022

November 2022

Giving Back This November

Hello friends,

November is all about giving back and expressing our immense gratitude. In the spirit of giving, let us each think about granting our time to support excellent events across campus.

This month, CSULB is proudly celebrating
Native American Heritage Month. We have many opportunities planned for The Beach to honor the customs, values, and traditions of our Native American community. Together, we are also recognizing National First-Generation College Celebration Day on Tuesday, November 8. First-generation students make up 30.8% of our entire student population, so please join us for an all-day series of workshops, add your name to the first-gen list, and attend activities to honor and support first-gen experiences.

November 8 is also a day we celebrate our democracy through our midterm elections. I encourage those of you that can vote to do so. Lastly, as a nation, we will graciously thank our veterans for their service as we observe Veterans’ Day. Heritage months and celebration days, like these, bring us closer to our peers and connect us to the diverse cultures and experiences of our campus. Let’s use this time to deepen our understanding of one another and appreciate the value we all bring to The Beach.

Thank you and Go Beach! -
Provost Sr. Vice President, Karyn Scissum Gunn
