2023 University Achievement Awards Honors 18 Faculty and 4 Students

CSULB recently recognized the accomplishments of 18 faculty and 4 student awardees at the annual University Achievement Awards. A lively event with over 100 attendees, our honorary recipients were congratulated across the stage by Academic Senate Chair Dr. Pei-Fang Hung, Associate Vice President of the Office of Research and Economic Development Dr. Simon Kim, and Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Karyn Scissum Gunn.

Dr. Kim honored our 4 student recipients who earned awards in the Outstanding Graduate and Undergraduate Student in Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity categories. Our student winners are proud co-authors and owners of ground-breaking research and publications that secured a place in prestigious academic journals. Their mentors and families, who played a crucial role of encouragement and support, were also in attendance.

Dr. Hung congratulated all faculty winners as Dr. Scissum Gunn presented them by category. Award categories ranged from Faculty Excellence in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion to Early Academic Career Excellence, among many others. Professors from a variety of disciplines gathered to receive their award, participate in a brief photo op, and connect with their Beach community. College deans were also present to commemorate collegiate feats, and families gathered to cheer on their loved ones.

Each year, the University Achievement Awards honors nominated faculty and students who are selected by the Academic Senate and Office of Research and Economic Development for their multitude of unique successes and efficacious efforts at The Beach. The award recognition ceremony is hosted by the Office of the Provost.
