CSULB CIRM Bridges Program (CCBP)
The goal of the CSULB CIRM Bridges Program is to actively recruit and train the next generation of scientists to build a regenerative medicine workforce for California. This program provides advanced-level training in regenerative medicine and stem cell biology.
Students will have the opportunity to develop their knowledge, technical expertise, and the practical skills needed to succeed in regenerative medicine and to contribute to the development of new treatments and cures. Trainees are supported through extensive mentoring, advising, and personal and professional development workshops to ensure successful.
Program Outline
The CSULB California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) Bridges Program (CCBP) provides a funded internship component of the Biotechnology Certificate Program. Students admitted to the program for their internship component of the Certificate in Biotechnology will have the opportunity to join a human stem cell, progenitor cell, gene therapy, or cancer research laboratory for their full-time 10-month paid internship.
We currently have four host sites available for matching internships. These range from a public R1 research university (UC Irvine), top-ranked nonprofit academic medical center (Cedars-Sinai Medical Center), a leading nonprofit clinical research center (The City of Hope) and a Tech-Bio startup biotechnology company (Aureka Biotechnologies).
In addition to the internship, during the year students will participate in additional professional development workshops, trainings, and patient engagement, advocacy, and outreach events.
