The Phoenix of Gaza XR
Faculty, students and staff are invited to a virtual reality exhibit, “The Phoenix of Gaza XR: The Culture and History through Virtual Reality” on October 29 & October 30, 2025.
This exhibit offers an immersive experience in the architecture, culture, life, and history of Gaza, pre-and post-destruction. Created by Dr. Ahlam Muhtaseb (Professor of Media Studies, California State University, San Bernardino), Naim Aburaddi (PhD Candidate, University of Colorado-Boulder) and the team of the x-Real Lab of California State University San Bernardino, “The Phoenix of Gaza XR” provides a simulated reality for the audience to engage new ways of seeing, knowing, and experiencing stories of the people of Gaza.

This project captures: (1) Gaza outside the realm of death and destruction, and to show the multiplicity of Gaza, introducing the multi-dimensional realities there; (2) everyday moments and mundane life activities; and (3) places and faces that no longer exist in the geography of Gaza. This is a timely exhibit to generate an understanding of the current global political moment within a more situated representation of Gaza’s cultural and architectural history.

We require an RSVP for the exhibit. Please scan the QR code on the attached flyer to register. Registration closes today, October 24, 2025, and spaces are extremely limited. CSULB security protocols dictate that this exhibit is only made available to CSULB students, faculty, and staff. Instructions regarding location, preparation for the exhibit, and specifics of the VR experience will be provided soon after all registration is completed.
