Cal State Long Beach announced Wednesday that it has reached the $275 million fundraising goal for its No Barriers campaign, which now will be extended until the launch of the university’s 75th anniversary celebration in late September.

"The response to the No Barriers campaign has been remarkable and, most importantly, our students are significantly uplifted every day by the investments made by our donors," said Beach President Jane Close Conoley. "There is such momentum here for our academic and cocurricular programs, and for the many support services that empower our students. Continuing the campaign recognizes the confidence our supporters have in the institution and its mission.”

Through its No Barriers campaign, the university has secured donations from individuals, corporations and foundations clustered around three priorities: student empowerment, workforce development and strengthening programs for the community.

Before the campaign's public launch in September 2022, the university had lined up a series of significant leadership gifts during what is commonly referred to as the "quiet" phase of a campaign. Additional contributions from thousands of donors at all levels as well as subsequent leadership donations — including several substantial planned gifts, a significant investment by MemorialCare and a recent $11 million commitment from Ballmer Group — helped put the university over the top.

Nearly 93,000 donors have participated in the campaign so far, directing their support to over 1,100 funds spanning capital projects, program support and the establishment of almost 300 new scholarships.

Vice President for University Relations and Development Dan Montoya called the extension of the campaign a “historic moment,” citing No Barriers as the university’s most extensive fundraising effort to date. “As we now extend this campaign to the launch of our 75th anniversary year, this is the time to take action and be counted!”
