Elevate our community and advance the public good

Cal State Long Beach is woven into the fabric of our region.

We take seriously our role as a transformative steward of place. We advance community health, provide enrichment through the arts, and serve as a valued partner across the business, public, and nonprofit sectors.

This work is also central to our educational mission, deepening learning experiences for our students as they contribute to the quality of life in our community.

There will be No Barriers to advancing the public good.

Together We Will...

Build a breakthrough space for our College of Health and Human Services that will co-locate clinical education with health and wellness programs, provide new clinical space for students, foster interdisciplinarity and better serve the community

• • •

Enhance the preparation of musicians and their performances by renovating Daniel Recital Hall to offer improved accessibility, acoustics and aesthetics to properly showcase and complement performances, and by updating classrooms, labs, orchestra and choral spaces

• • •

Strengthen partnerships with community health assets, and orchestrate and establish a community resource center with local public and not-for-profit agencies that will make our extensive strengths in education, health, fitness, behavioral health, elder thriving and community-building more available to our region, including pioneering and disseminating a senior-care model to meet a critical national need

• • •

Eliminate achievement gaps in our communities by building and strengthening programs that lead to a more equitable future for all

• • •

Launch a community lecture series that brings diverse perspectives from leading scholars, artists and leaders on issues of local, national and global significance

• • •

Further leverage the impact of the Kleefeld Contemporary Art Museum as an indispensable resource for the community with additional support for exhibitions, archives and an education lab for field trips, continuing education activities and think-tanks

• • •

Promote our intellectual capital to the region’s benefit by better linking education and industry, public agencies and not-for-profit organizations

• • •
