Women & Careers Symposium 2024

Bree Glover is the Los Angeles Senior Recruiting Manager at COOP Careers, a nonprofit with the mission of "overcoming underemployment" for first-generation college graduates. After graduating from Lehman College in New York City, Bree started her professional career in television as a Library Researcher at CBS. She spent three years being underpaid and unable to move into an upwardly mobile position.

Things changed when her college career center sent her information about COOP. She decided to join the tech skills-building program and gained multiple certifications in Digital Marketing. Bree left her job to pursue a change in pace outside of New York City, moving to Los Angeles and taking work in the talent management industry as both a receptionist and intern coordinator. During the pandemic, Bree looked deep within herself to connect with what she felt would help her grow. Bree decided to take a black-ran yoga teacher training course and is now a certified yoga teacher. Looking even deeper within herself, Bree connected with the nonprofit sector.

Now Bree is dedicated to connecting the most underserved individuals to financial stability and professional connections through the program that built her confidence and self-worth. Bree hopes in the future to offer yoga to black and brown communities for free as well as continue to work within nonprofit to help change society for the better.

Allison Lyon has been in the talent acquisition field for over 10 years, with a variety of experience in high volume and executive recruiting for both corporate and regional teams. Allison has staffed and led teams for multimillion dollar organizations in the Education and Consumer Goods industries, and since joining Think Together in 2023 has built a team of over 20 Recruiters and leaders, staffing over 5,000 positions throughout California.

Brandi is the Regional Marketing Manager for the California and Pacific Island region of Fastenal. She started with Fastenal Company in 2012 in an entry-level role as a Sales Support in our Spring Lake, North Carolina location after graduating from University of North Carolina at Pembroke with her MBA. The first 8 years of her career was in sales, managing our Sanford, North Carolina location starting in 2013, before becoming a District Manager in 2018 in the Orange and Los Angeles County, California territory. In 2020, she moved out of sales and into a specialized role that creates strategy for recruiting, onboarding, employee development, internal communications, and operational efficiencies.

Rebecca started with Fastenal Company in 2017 in a part-time, entry-level Sales Support position. After 5 months, she moved to and Onsite Account Rep role where she managed the accounts for County of San Diego, City of San Diego, and UC-San Diego. Four and a half years later she moved into her current role as Regional Recruiter managing the relationships with Colleges and Universities, working closely with students to help them onto a career path and assisting in employee development activities.

Prior to her employment at Fastenal she worked 16 years in a retail sales environment where she held leadership positions and helped with employee development. She graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in General Business, in 2014.

I have been with Target for 9 years and started my career at Target as an Intern while I was attending the University of Redlands! During my internship, I fell in love with Target because of the culture, training & development, and the people I met! After accepting the full time role as an Executive Team Leader, I oversaw various departments from Service & Engagement, to General Merchandise, and lastly Specialty Sales. Throughout my time in stores I had mentors and managers to help guide and lead me to where I am today as a Campus Recruiter. Outside of Career Fairs, you can find me reading a great book, learning how to cook, and bargain shopping on the weekends with my Fiancé Derrick.

Karen Klimowski serves as the Development Diplomat in Residence for the Western United States, where she leads outreach and recruitment activities for the Agency. Ms. Klimowski is a Senior Foreign Service Officer with 30 years’ experience in senior leadership, and health officer roles in eight countries. Ms. Klimowski served as Deputy Mission Director to India from 2019 to July 2023, leading a staff of 130 in partnering with India to tackle the most pressing development challenges facing the nation. Additionally, Karen served in Indonesia, Kenya, Uganda, and the Philippines, focusing on complex development challenges in health, education, economic empowerment, good governance, environment, and clean energy. Prior to joining USAID, Ms. Klimowski worked for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia; Zimbabwe, and Malawi; the Orange County Health Care Agency in Santa Ana, California; and various non-governmental organizations. She started her career in development as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Sierra Leone, West Africa. Ms. Klimowski holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physiology from the University of California, San Diego; and a Master’s in Public Health from San Diego State University. She is from Santa Cruz, California.

Evette Rivera joined the FBI in September 2003.  In her capacity as a Special Agent, she has investigated White Collar and Violent Crime matters.  Prior to joining the FBI, SA Rivera was employed in public service roles within the social service and public health industry.

Catherine Moore, LCSW is an international speaker, best-selling author, podcaster, and mental health therapist. Catherine holds both a Bachelor's degree in Social Work (BSW) and a Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from California State University, Long Beach. Catherine has experience working in Medical Social Work and in private therapy. She is the host of the top 10 career podcast titled, Social Workers, Rise! Podcast.

Sarah has been with Enterprise Mobility for 24 years. She graduated from Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, IA. After that, she moved to Southern California, starting in a non-management position and worked her way up to Branch Manager before getting promoted to Human Resources, working as a Talent Development Manager, HR Generalist Manager and most recently the Talent Acquisition Manager. She is currently responsible for hiring throughout the Orange County and South LA territory, and is a partner on the CSULB campus. In her free time, Sarah is a single Mom, loves making charcuterie boards and making people laugh.

My name is Marivick Mamiit. I am a first generation Filipino-American that was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. I was raised by a single mom and went to LAUSD Hillcrest Drive Elementary in South LA. I was adopted at a young age due to my mother being a domestic violence victim. I graduated from South Pasadena Middle School and South Pasadena High School. I played professional tennis in France when I was 18 years old. I accepted a full athletic scholarship to play women’s tennis at the College of William and Mary in Virginia. I transferred to the University of California Irvine and accepted a full athletic scholarship to play tennis and serve as team captain of their NCAA Women’s Tennis Team. I graduated with a B.A. in Criminology and a minor in psychology. After college I taught elementary school and coached the South Pasadena High School Boys and Girls tennis team to lead them to CIF.

I am currently a Field Sergeant for the Los Angeles School Police Department supervising the Los Angeles Unified School District South Division Area Schools . Before I was a Sergeant, I was a Police Officers for 7 years patrolling LAUSD’s Central Division. I’ve served the department as a CPR / First Aid Instructor, High School Police Academy Magnet Instructor, Youth Advisor to Police Explorers, Anger Management Program for Kids presenter, and member of the department’s recruitment team. I earned my master’s degree in public administration and management and leadership from California State University Northridge.

I am single mother of a 2 ½ year old son. I am a survivor of domestic violence and an advocate for victims and children of domestic violence. I spearheaded our department’s first celebration of Women in Law Enforcement Appreciation Day in 2023 and I am looking to implement innovative ideas to increase the percentage of women working in Law Enforcement.
