First Month Free – 30-day bus pass & discounted parking permit
New for fall semester 2026, CSULB students who delay their parking permit purchase for the first 4-weeks and instead buy a Long Beach Transit bus pass are eligible for:
- $40 reimbursement, equivalent to a free 30-day bus pass or 40% off a 150-day bus pass
- 40% savings off a semester parking permit.
A Long Beach Transit bus pass provides unlimited rides anywhere Long Beach Transit operates including Carson, Bellflower, Norwalk, Compton, Cerritos, and Seal Beach.
- Register using our registration form between July 28-August 30, 2026.
- Buy a 30-day (or 150-day) Long Beach Transit pass between August 17-30, 2026, instead of buying a parking permit and driving to campus.*
- Delay parking on campus and use public transit for the first four weeks of fall semester, August 24-September 18, 2026.
- After the 4-week period, submit proof of bus pass purchase to ride@csulb.edu. Upon confirming eligibility, Parking and Transportation Services will reimburse you $40 (equivalent to a free 30-day bus pass, or 40% off a 150-day semester bus pass).
- Keep riding Long Beach Transit or visit the parking portal to purchase your discounted permit:
- Semester Permit regular price: $259, discounted to $156 (Save $103)
- Academic Year Permit regular price: $518, discounted to $416 (Save $102)
*To be eligible for the program, students may not park on campus nor purchase a parking permit in any form including Short-Term, Daily, Monthly, Semester and Academic Year permits prior to September 19, 2026.
July 28-August 30, 2026
Students register by filling out the registration form.
August 17-30, 2026
Student purchases LBT 30-Day or 150-Day bus pass and saves the proof of purchase.
August 24-September 18, 2026
Student commutes to campus using Long Beach Transit and may not drive or park on campus.
September 21-October 2, 2026
Student must request reimbursement by emailing ride@csulb.edu and provide the required documentation.
- Student sends an email to ride@csulb.edu with the following items:
- Full Name
- Student ID number
- Proof of purchase of Long Beach Transit bus pass
- Applicants will then be notified by email once their eligibility has been confirmed.
Important Notes:
- Program participation is non-transferrable.
- This program is not available to students living in Beachside or on-campus Residential Housing.
- In very rare cases, this reimbursement payment may result in a minor adjustment to a student’s financial aid eligibility. Financial Aid will contact any affected students directly if this change occurs.
