CSULB Expert in Labor Relations Explains Impact of "Gig Law" on Truck Drivers

CSULB Sociology Professor, Jake Wilson, explained to the Torrance Daily Breeze how the current "owner-operator" system for truckers, who operate about 70 percent of all cargo movement in the local ports, avoids providing workers benefits. The implementation of Assembly Bill 5 (known as the gig-law) may put an end to the system and Professor Wilson feels most of the truckers would like to obtain some benefits and a more stable employment system.
