CSULB receives full 10-year reaccreditation
Cal State Long Beach was recently awarded a full 10-year reaccreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC).
The 10-year accreditation is the maximum term granted by WSCUC and shows a measure of confidence in the work CSULB has done since its last review to promote our core commitments and continuous work to improve activities, said Accreditation Liaison Officer Sharlene Sayegh.
"As arduous as each accreditation process is, it provides CSULB and the campus community with an opportunity to engage in a vital period of self-study, reflection, and – most importantly – specific action recommendations that promote progress," President Jane Close Conoley said.
"I thank and applaud our faculty, staff, students, alumni and supporters whose hard work, commitment and shared vision have made this possible."
Accreditation is an important part of the higher education landscape and is a way for institutions to engage in a valuable peer-review process with objective, external experts in higher education who give feedback on strengths and areas for improvement, Sayegh said.
“This news is quite exciting and all stakeholders at CSULB should be proud of the work we have accomplished and continue to do to promote the core values, priorities, and tenets of the institution,” she said.
Three national rankings by Money.com place CSULB in the Top 1% of public universities in the nation. The Beach is also among the top universities in the nation awarding degrees to Hispanic students and ranks No. 4 in campus diversity.
