What To Do If You're Concerned About a Student
Faculty and staff are often the first to notice when a student may be struggling. If you are on this page, because you are concerned about a student’s well-being, there are several ways you can help connect them to support.
If a student appears to be in immediate danger or experiencing a crisis, contact University Police (911 from a campus phone or 562-985-4101).
Submit a CARES Referral
The CARES Team coordinates campus support for students navigated challenges to help them stay on track academically and personally offering advocacy, referrals, and case management. Your referral will be assessed by a case manager who will connect with the student and follow up with you.
Call CAST – Our Mobile Crisis Team
CAST is a team of mobile mental health professionals, in collaboration with the University Police Department, responding to crisis and urgent needs of the CSULB campus and surrounding community with a humanistic and trauma-informed approach.
