CSULB Commencement 2023: See how these grads are celebrating on social media

Published May 10, 2023

More than 15,000 Cal State Long Beach undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to participate in this year’s Commencement ceremonies May 15-17 at Angel Stadium of Anaheim.

With commencement right around the corner, soon-to-be Beach alumni have been celebrating with inspirational posts on social media.

Here’s a sampling of some of them:

“After much time and dedication. I officially have a bachelor’s degree in communications studies, minor in public relations and certificate in mediation. I don’t tend to share a lot, but this is something very special to me and a great accomplishment that I have worked hard for,” Cesar Romero said on Instagram.

Graduation is an important milestone where Beach graduates can close one chapter and open a brand-new chapter in their lives.

"These past four years have truly been amazing! Thank you to my family and friends for contributing to my success and happiness at CSULB,” business marketing graduate Sheila Shariat said on Instagram. “I’m so excited to start this next chapter of my life and I will forever be grateful for the memories I’ve made at CSULB.”

Joseph Valadez has experienced a life-changing educational journey. While at The Beach, he got involved in Project Rebound, a program that recruits and supports formerly incarcerated students looking to advance their education at CSULB.

“There was a time when I was lost in my addiction for over 40 years,” Valadez said on Instagram. “But guess what, I'm getting ready to graduate with my Master of Social Work degree from California State University, Long Beach.”

Livestreams and ceremony information can be found on the CSULB Commencement website.
